EVENTS

The Rotary Club of Lewes has been serving Lewes, Kingston and Ringmer residents for over 100 years. Our motto “Service Above Self” means that we are committed to helping local good causes alone or with the help and cooperation of other local clubs. We also encourage music and the arts and have held a speakers competition for local schools for some time. As a registered charity, we collect and distribute many thousands of pounds each year for the needy in our community. Without the support of you, the people of Lewes, Kingston and Ringmer, we would not be able to achieve these aims.

Core Local Projects & Activities

The Rotary Club of Lewes runs a number of well-established and much-loved community events that raise significant funds for local causes:

  • Rotary Skittles Tournament (since 1967) – held each June in Southover Grange Gardens, attracting 120+ teams and raising £10K+ for charities including Lewes Victoria Hospital.

  • Annual Charity Golf Day – every August at Lewes Golf Club, involving 100+ players and raising around £5,000 each year through entry fees, raffles, and sponsorship.

  • Lewes County Town Dinner & Fatstock Celebration – held each October at the Town Hall, bringing together 250+ people from the farming and business communities.

  • Christmas Tree of Goodwill – running since 1948, now a 12-night mobile tour across Lewes and district in December, raising around £5,000 annually to support the needy and elderly at Christmas.

Alongside these, the club supports local charities, food banks, schools, youth projects, and international Rotary initiatives such as End Polio Now and ShelterBox.
